Kelly Doubles Up on A-10 Weekly Honors

Freshman named league Pitcher and Rookie of the Week

ST. LOUIS - Freshman Erin Kelly (River Forest, Ill. / Fenwick) accomplished a feat no other Saint Louis softball player has achieved when she was named Atlantic 10 Conference Softball Pitcher and Rookie of the Week for the period ending Feb. 24. It marks the first time since the Billikens joined the A-10 that a SLU softball player has earned Rookie of the Week honors in conjunction with another A-10 accolade.

At last weekend's Clarion Inn-Arkansas Invitational, Kelly (3-0) picked up both of the Billikens wins. She entered the Northern Colorado contest at the start of the sixth inning and did not allow any Bear to reach base while striking out two in SLU's 6-2 victory. Then Kelly came into the Alcorn State game with a runner on and no outs in the third inning. In the next five frames, she allowed just one run on two hits and three free passes while fanning a career-high eight en route to the 6-4 win. Kelly also struck out two and walked one in the final inning against Arkansas.

The teams that faced Kelly last weekend hit just .080 as she posted a team-best 0.88 ERA with 12 strikeouts. She has earned all three of Saint Louis' wins this season. For the year, Kelly has a 3.00 ERA and a team-high 16 strikeouts in 14 innings of work.
